In Hong Kong, Grade 3 Lorraine Joy Calica topped the “Search for Star of the Math Olympics” while Paul Jeremiah Naraval, a third year high school, won the silver medal. Both clinched the silver in the “Chong Hua Math Cup”.

Those who received Merit of Excellence in the PanAsia Pacific Math Contest and King of Math Cup competition were Calubayan and Jan Vincent Simbol, Grade 3; Mary Alyenne Azarcon, Grade 4; Victor Dominic Naraval, Grade 7; and Lorigene Marie Cepriaso, third year high school, in the World Mathematics Invitation in Kaoshiung, Taiwan.

“You will be looked upon by the youth of your generation who will try to emulate you,” said Ortega after praising the 12 “budding math wizards”.

Loreta Cepriaso, the principal of BHC Educational Institution Inc., said the students have proven that San Fernando sons and daughters are at par with foreign counterparts in math.
