La Union officials endorse candidate

SAN FERNANDO CITY, La Union: Municipal mayors and barangay officials have endorsed outgoing City Mayor Pablo Ortega as their official candidate for La Union 1st District representative through a resolution passed and signed on Tuesday.

The resolution cited the reasons for their endorsement, such as Pablo’s completion of his unopposed 10-year-term as barangay captain, he has been a municipal and city councilor for four terms, he was elected president of the Philippine Councilors’ League in the region for two consecutive terms, and was a Provincial Board Member for six years.

The other signatories were mayors Ruben Valero of San Juan, Victor Marvin Marron of Luna, Joy Merin of Bangar, Divina Velasco of San Gabriel, Alfred Concepcion of Balaoan, Daisy Sayangda of Santol, Wendy Joy Buquing of Sudipen, and Bacnotan town Mayor Francis Fontanilla, who only signed the resolution last Tuesday night.

One of his brothers, Francisco “Kit” Ortega also took his oath as a Liberal Party member during a convening at the party’s national headquarters in Quezon City this month.

“I have already talked it out with Kit and he gave way for my candidacy,” Pablo told this reporter on Wednesday.

He added that the Ortega political clan would have threshed out their internal problems next month in time for the filing of certificates of candidacy.

  1. I have had second thought of voting an Ortega fellow come 2016 Election. If ever Pablo Ortega wins as a Congressman, I hope he will not be like the other Ortega fellows who were corruptors of LA Union.
