• Lady Archers aim for first F4 berth in UAAP volleyball


    Defending champion De La Salle University will be gunning for the first Final Four slot when it battles Far Eastern University (FEU) today in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines Season 76 women’s volleyball tournament at The Arena in San Juan City.

    The La Salle-FEU game is at 4 p.m. while Adamson University meets University of the East at 2 p.m.

    The Lady Archers remain unbeaten in nine games for solo top spot followed by National University (9-1), Ateneo de Manila University (6-4), Far Eastern University (5-4), University of Santo Tomas (4-6), Adamson (4-5), University of the Philippines (1-9) and UE (0-9).

    La Salle skipper Abigail Marano, Ara Galang, Mika Reyes, Cyd Demecillo, rookie Desiree Cheng and setter Kim Fajardo are looking to duplicate their 25-19 25-17 25-16 win against FEU in the first round.

    The Lady Tamaraws will be banking on rookie Bernadette Pons, who is ranked ninth overall in the scoring department, as well as middle hitters Remy Palma and Geneveve Casugod, and veteran playmaker Gyzelle Sy.

    Playing in the men’s division are UP and UE at 8:30 a.m., and Adamson and NU at 10 a.m.
