National University (NU) shoots for its fourth win when it faces University of Santo Tomas (UST) today in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines Season 76 women’s volleyball tournament at The Arena in San Juan City.
The Lady Bulldogs and the Tigresses collide at 4 p.m. while last year’s runner-up Ateneo de Manila University takes on University of the East (UE) at 2 p.m.
NU improved to 3-1 mark after beating Far Eastern University (FEU), 25-22, 25-19, 25-19, last Sunday. The Lady Bulldogs are currently in second place behind unbeaten De La Salle University (4-0).
Ateneo and UST are sharing the third spot with 2-1 each while UE is still winless in three games.
The towering duo of the Santiago sisters, Dindin and Jaja, will be the main source of NU’s offense and defense while power-hitter Myla Pablo, Aiko Urdas, Carmina Aganon and setter Ivy Perez will be providing the needed back up.
UST’s Ria Meneses, Carmela Tunay, Pamela Lastimosa, Jem Gutierrez and Jessey de Leon must bring their A-games to match the intensity of the Lady Bulldogs.
“We want to enter the Christmas break with a good feeling,” said UST head coach Odjie Mamon.
Playing in the men’s division are FEU and UE at 8:30 a.m., and La Salle and UST at 10 a.m.
