• Lady Bulldogs nail sixth win in UAAP volleyball


    National University (NU) survived Adamson University, 26-28, 25-21, 30-28, 25-20, to claim its sixth win the University Athletic Association of the Philippines Season 76 women’s volleyball tournament on Sunday at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.

    The Lady Bulldogs closed-out their campaign in the first round of eliminations with a 6-1 mark while the Lady Falcons dropped to a 3-3 card.

    Five NU players were in double figure including top scorer Carmina Aganon who had 15 points.

    Six-foot-four rookie Jaja Santiago delivered 14 points while last year’s Rookie of the Year Aiko Urdas and reigning Best Spiker Myla Pablo added 13 points each. Skipper Dindin Santiago contributed 12 markers.

    Power-hitting Sheila Marie Pineda had a sterling 24-point production for Adamson while Amanda Marie Villanueva chipped in 14 points.

    In the men’s division, defending champion NU swept the first round by outlasting former titlist Far eastern University, 25-18, 25-18, 24-26, 18-25, 16-14.

    Team captain Rueben Inaudito led the Bulldogs with 17 points while Edwin Tolentino scored 16 and Jan Berlin Paglinawan nailed 12. Season 75 Finals Most Valuable Player Peter Den Mar Torres was limited to nine points.
