National University (NU) posted an easy 25-17, 25-22, 25-14 win over University of the Philippines (UP) for its fifth win in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines Season 76 women’s volleyball tournament on Wednesday at The Arena in San Juan City.
The Lady Bulldogs banked on the solid games of the Santiago sisters—Dindin and Jaja—to solidify their hold of the No. 2 spot with 5-1 mark.
Dindin fired 16 points including 11 attacks and four blocks while Jaja contributed 13 points on 11 spikes and two blocks.
“We relaxed a bit in the second set but we we’re able to recover quickly in the third set. It’s a good win before facing Adamson on Sunday,” said the 6-foot-2 Dindin.
Last year’s Rookie of the Year Aiko Urdas added 10 points while power-hitting Myla Pablo and Carmina Aganon combined for 14 points.
The Lady Maroons absorbed their sixth straight loss.
Angeli Araneta score nine for UP while Katherine Bersola and Sheeka Espinosa got seven each.
In the men’s division, defending champion NU needed just 59 minutes to beat University of the East, 25-16, 25-14, 25-22, while Far Eastern University outlasted UP, 17-25, 25-16, 16-25, 25-22, 15-8.
