Far Eastern University (FEU) overpowered University of the Philippines (UP), 25-19, 25-18, 25-17, to gain its second win in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines Season 76 women’s volleyball tournament at The Arena in San Juan City.
The Lady Tamaraws improved to 2-1 while the Lady Maroons are still winless in three outings.
Sophomore Remy Palma chalked up 15 points including three blocks for FEU while rookie Bernadeth Pons got 14 points and Samantha Dawson contributed 12 points highlighted by four aces.
“It’s a big boost for us. It sets the tone and it uplifts the spirits of my teammates before facing National University in our next game,” said Palma.
Angeli Araneta led the Lady Maroons with 10 points while Kathe-rine Bersola added eight points.
In the men’s division, Jan Berlin Paglinawan scored 13 points to tow NU to an easy 25-20, 25-19, 25-22 win over Adamson University. Edwin Tolentino ad-ded nine markers while Reyson Fuentes had eight points.
UP also posted a 25-19, 21-25, 25-22, 25-19 victory against Ateneo de Manila University with Wendel Miguel and Julius Raymundo combining for 29 points for the Fighting Maroons.
