Far Eastern University (FEU) shoots for Final Four slot when it battles Adamson University today in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines Season 78 women’s volleyball tournament at The Arena in San Juan City.
The Lady Tamaraws will collide with the Lady Falcons at 4 p.m. while defending champion Ateneo de Manila University takes on University of the East at 2 p.m.
FEU holds the No. 3 spot with a 7-5 record ahead of fellow Final Four contenders University of the Philippines (7-6) and National University (7-6).
Leaders Ateneo (10-2) and De La Salle University (10-2) have already secured the twice-to-beat cards in the Final Four.
FEU will be relying on Bernadeth Pons, Toni Rose Basas and Remy Palma along with veteran setter Gyzelle Sy and rookie libero Ria Duremdes
“I’m just happy that they are playing well in our past games. They’re not giving up, fighting for each and every point. I’m just proud of these girls,” said FEU mentor Shaq Delos Santos.
Besides the Final Four berth, the Lady Tamaraws want to avenge their 25-21, 25-17, 19-25, 23-25, 10-15 loss to the Lady Falcons in the first round.
“We still have a lot of things to show. We just need to play consistent from start to finish,” stressed Delos Santos.
The Lady Falcons are already out of the race with 3-9 but expect Jessica Galanza, Mylene Paat and Erika Alkuino to go all-out to end the season on a high note.
On the other hand, the Lady Eagles are building confidence as they rev up for their highly anticipated second-round meeting with the Lady Spikers on Sunday.
“Every game is important. We need to give our 100 percent whichever team is in front of us. Every game is a learning experience for us,” said Ateneo skipper Alyssa Valdez, the reigning Most Valuable Player.
