Laguna village official nabbed for illegal gun possession


CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna: Police arrested the barangay (village) chairman of Pakil, and concurrent president of the Association of Barangay Chairmen in Laguna for allegedly possessing unlicensed firearms and ammunition. Senior Supt. Joel Pernito, Laguna provincial police director, identified the suspect as Roberto Bagabaldo. Pernito and members of the provincial Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG), Laguna Provincial Intelligence Branch and Pakil Police on Tuesday served the suspect a search warrant at his house in Saint James Subdivision in Barangay Burgos, Pakil. Confiscated from Bagabaldo were a caliber 45 pistol, a caliber 40 pistol, a caliber 9mm revolver, a caliber 38 revolver and assorted ammunition. Pernito said Bagabaldo is also on a drug watch list of the CIDG and the Directorate for Intelligence as priority target in Laguna.
