WITH its advocacy to promote countryside entrepreneurship and develop the Philippine coconut industry, Philippine Craft Distillers, Inc. seems to have done more than that. Exactly a year ago, the company got a Gold Award at the prestigious World Selection of Spirits & Liquers 2015 from the Monde Selection International Quality Institute for its product, Lakan Extra Premium Lambanog.
The liquor lambanog is made out of distilled coconut nectar, a centuries-old tradition throughout the Philippine archipelago. Bagging the international awards puts the provincial liquor in the company of the world’s high-end spirits.
Meanwhile, Lakan is a title for warrior rulers, who governed trade in pre-colonial Philippines.
“Lakan is the chosen symbol of our Philippine lambanog because it best describes the character and strength of this exceptional liquor,” says the local distillery firm.
Lakan is available at Duty Free Philippines outlets in the country’s international airports in Metro Manila, Cebu, Davao, Ilo-ilo, Aklan, and Clark.
