ZAMBOANGA CITY: A concrete bridge destroyed during a typhoon in southern Philippine province of Lanao del Sur has been reopened to traffic, public works officials said on Tuesday. Sandra Flores, a spokesperson for the Department of Public Works and Highways in Northern Mindanao, said a steel bridge was erected in Linamon town which connects the province to western Mindanao. Evelyn Barroso, the regional public works director, said the steel bridge in the village of Napo is limited to 20 tons. Troops were also guarding the temporary 50-meter steel bridge to ensure that only vehicles within the weight limit can pass through the Larapan Bridge. The DPWH said some P187 million was needed to repair the damage to the Larapan Bridge.
