The Department of Agriculture (DA) said typhoon Lando damaged P8.4 billion worth of crops and fishery products in Regions I, II, III, IV-A and the Cordillera Administrative Region or CAR.
The DA said 369,199 hectares were affected, resulting in 511,691 metric tons (MT) of production losses.
The rice sector incurred the biggest damage — 344,102 hectares — with production losses reaching 471,198 MT having an estimated value of P7.213 billion. Almost half of the damaged farms was in Region III — 225,946 hectares – that led to production losses reaching 393,440 MT worth P5.991 billion.
Meanwhile, damage to high value crops were placed at P780,273,408; fisheries at P276,818,517; and corn losses at P146,498,170.
