Today is the last day of the weekend run of Claude-Michel Schönberg and Alain Boublil’s legendary musical Miss Saigon: The 25th Anniversary Performance in selected SM cinemas.
Shot in front of a live audience at London’s Prince Edward Theatre, this musical play will give cinema-goers and Saigon fans in the Philippines the chance to enjoy the spectacular sell-out event. The Philippines of course has a special spot for the production, which saw the rise of Lea Salonga and other Filipino artists to international renown.
The story unfolds at the tail end of the Vietnam War in 1975 and tells the dramatic tale of Kim, a young bar girl, who falls in love with an American GI only for their love and lives to be torn apart by the fall of Saigon.
The extraordinarily talented cast of Miss Saigon: The 25th Anniversary Performance features Fil-Am Eva Noblezanda as Kim, Rachelle Ann Go as Gigi, and Jon Jon Briones as The Engineer.
The cinema version includes a special bonus in the finale, which sees the 25th anniversary cast joined on stage by Saigon’s original lead actors, Jonathan Pryce, Simon Bowma, and our very own Lea Salonga.
