Every year from September all the way to December, releases from top international artists always pour in, whether a single or a new album. These are therefore the months that most music fans look forward to, giving them their fill of mainstream genres to new sounds from around the world.

This year is no different in terms of last quarter music invasion with an exciting variety of new releases. And mind you, this is just the first part of Music Geek’s report with the latest album of OneRepublic, and the new singles of Maroon5 and Alicia Keys, because there will be more interesting releases for feature in the coming weeks.

    ‘Oh My My’
Three years after the release of their third album Native, which has sold over five million copies worldwide and produced the hit singles “If I Lose Myself,” “Love Runs Out,” “I Lived,” and “Counting Stars,” American band OneRepublic returns with a follow up album, Oh My My.

With lead singer Ryan Tedder still at the helm of songwriting chores, the album was made and recorded in nearly 20 cities around the world during their tours. Also composed of bassist Brent Kutzle, guitarists Zach Filkins and Drew Brown, Oh My My boasts of 16 songs for the Standard Edition while the Deluxe Edition has 20 with two more songs and acoustic versions of two songs.

The band is growing album after album since their debut album Dreaming Out Loud was released in 2007 with the massive hit “Apologize.” If there is one word to describe Oh My My, it would be different but in a good sense. You can never go wrong anyway with a brilliant composer and producer like the Grammy Award-winning Tedder who can experiment with songs and genres with every album and turn out impressively.

    ‘Don’t Wanna Know’
After three hit singles (“Maps,” “Animals” and “Sugar”) from their 2014 album V, Maroon 5 is back with a brand new single “Don’t Wanna Know” featuring Kendrick Lamar released this month. This is the first collaboration between the three-time Grammy Award-winning multiplatinum band and the seven-time Grammy Award-winning

The single is a break from the usual Maroon 5 tracks that fans have been used to. Here, Levine takes a relaxed approach with the band’s sound taking a breezy vibe. It complements though with Lamar’s rap verse. Just like past Maroon 5 singles, “Don’t Wanna Know” is still has the radio-friendly formula. One should also watch out its distinctive music video where the band is featured in funny costumes.

For now, there’s no word if there’s a new Maroon 5 album on the way. Let’s see when the band will be releasing their newest album since their vocalist Adam Levine might still busy honing future talents in The Voice.

‘Blended Family (What You Do For Love)’
Another popular The Voice coach, Alicia Keys, recently released a new single titled “Blended Family (What You Do For Love)” featuring ASAP Rocky.

“I’m so excited for you to hear this song. It means so much to me and our whole family. The understanding, compassion and support we’ve found is a powerful testament to the healing that comes when we choose love,” she said on her Instagram account when the song was released on February 7.

This up-tempo song is worth the excitement with its powerful message of love coupled with Keys’ effortless soul-singing.

The song is part of her latest album Here scheduled for release on November 4. Here’s hoping for more surprises in this record that Keys bring in every time she releases a new one. Her appearance on the current season of The Voice is definitely a plus for this endeavor.
