Lawmaker caught speeding in Davao


BAYAN MUNA Rep. Carlos Isagani Zarate was flagged down by a traffic enforcer Tuesday night in Davao for violation of the city’s 40kph speed limit. Zarate said he was driving along McArthur Highway from downtown Davao at around 11:25 pm when a certain – Senior Police Officer 1 Mallonga – waived him to stop for speeding showing a 54kph mark. Mallonga issued him a temporary operator’s permit (TOP) and left. First-time traffic offenders are fined P2000; P3000 for second-time offenders; while third-time offenders will have license suspended up to six months. Repeated violators will face the possibility of their license revoked and pay P10,000.
