Lawyer wants caregiver to stay with detained Napoles

The lawyer of Janet Lim-Napoles is requesting authorities to allow Napoles’ caregiver to stay with her in Fort Santo Domingo in Santa Rosa City.

Kapunan said Napoles needed someone to look after her medication.

She said the caregiver is a “little girl” who has all the medicines of Napoles.

The businesswoman, tagged as the brains in the pork barrel fund scandal, has been diagnosed with hypertension and diabetes.

“We have to be assured that that little girl, who is her personal caregiver, be allowed inside (Napoles’ detention quarters),” Kapunan said in a television interview.

She said the caregiver is allowed only in a hold-over area, which is very far from the detention facility.

Kapunan also said it was not likely she will ask that Napoles be placed under hospital arrest.

She said there were competent doctors at Fort Santo Domingo to attend to her client.

Napoles is being detained on serious illegal detention charges filed against her and her brother, Reynald Lim by one of the whistleblowers in the pork barrel scam, Benhur Luy.

She surrendered to President Benigno Aquino 3rd in Malacañang last week after the President announced a P10-million reward for her arrest.

She was temporarily detained in Camp Crame and transferred to the Makati City Jail upon orders by Makati City Regional Trial Court Judge Elmo Alameda.

Alameda later granted Kapunan’s request that Napoles be detained instead in Fort Santo Domingo for security reasons.

  1. I hope that the so called little girl is actually a young petite licence registered nurse, attending to the convict’s basic health care requirements like dispensing her medications and daily monitoring of her physical condition. A small cell port with locked cover is sufficient enough for the little girl’s assigned tasks.

  2. Poor “little” caregiver girl, she becomes a collateral damage! What crime has she committed? No wonder people want to be rich. They want more money and power. So that even when they are incarcenated, they can enjoy the services of caregiver, masseurs, cooks, etc.
