AFTER he received apologies, election lawyer Romulo Macalintal on Sunday said that he would withdraw the criminal complaints he filed against the owners of two restaurants, who denied his rights in the Expanded Senior Citizens Act of 2010. Macalintal said the owners of the Café Mediterranean, located at the 4th floor of the Resorts World, Manila, in Pasay City and the Black Canyon Coffee located at SM Southmall in Las Piñas called him up to apologize for the incident. He said the owner of Café Mediterranean, Marla Moran, called him on Friday “sincerely” apologizing for the incident, “which transpired because she was not really aware of the existence of the law which provides that even a driver’s license could be used as proof of being a senior citizen.” Moran, he added, also agreed to a request to donate at least P20,000 to any home-for-the-aged institution.
