Lebanese community in PH donated P300k for Yolanda victims

The Lebanese community in the Philippines donated a total of P351,572 for the victims of Typhoon Yolanda in the Visayas region.

This “modest donation” was handed over to ABS-CBN Sagip-Kapamilya Foundation for relief and aid to the typhoon victims. Broadcaster Ted Failon was the one who received the donation on behalf of ABS-CBN.

Lebanon’s Honorary Consul-General to the Philippines Joseph Assad and Abdul Kader Jadid, president of the Philippine-Lebanon Friendship Community, were the ones who spearheaded the donation drive for the victims.

They were able to collect a donation from the Lebanese residents in Manila, $3,000 from the United Doctors Hospital in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Jadid was also the one who solicited a donation of P50,000 from Solar Power Solutions.

Donations from the Lebanese community ranged from $100 to $1,000 while peso donations from the honorary consul’s family range from P5,000 to P10,000. BERNICE CAMILLE V. BAUZON
