Cleveland Cavaliers star LeBron James arrived in Manila on Wednesday via private jet to promote the Nike Rise developmental program, according to a radio report.
James, 30, known for his scoring and all-around play, will serve as coach of the Nike Rise project against a selection of players from the University Athletic Association of the Philippines on Thursday at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.
The four-time Most Valuable Player is expected to attend a press conference at 1 p.m. in Mandalu-yong City before going to Bonifacio Global City. He will then proceed to MOA Arena for the 7 p.m. exhibition game.
James, who already visited the country two years ago, will spend few days in the country and then leave on August 22.
He started playing in the NBA in 2003, when he was drafted by Cleveland as its first overall pick. James had joined Chris Bosh and Dwayne Wade in the Miami Heat in 2010 before returning to the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2014.
James has two titles in the National Basketball Association, got four Most Valuable Player trophies, named as member of NBA All-Star 11 times and won twice the NBA MVP All-Star twice.
