• Lee has only himself to blame for his problems – Binay

Vice President Jejomar Binay said Globe Asiatique (GA) founder Delfin Lee only has himself to blame for the travails he is now undergoing.

Binay made the statement after Lee’s lawyer, Willie Rivera, intimated that the media is helping portray his client in a bad light.

“The negative image of Delfin Lee is his own fault. He said that he did not defraud his clients but there are thousands of people who say otherwise,” the Vice President said.

“It is very clear that there is an injustice committed to them as buyers—double sale, falsification of documents, these are all evidence,” he added.

He clarified that the order of the Court of Appeals First Division granting the petition for the issuance of a writ of habeas corpus filed by Lee was part of the legal process.

“It’s procedural. A petition was filed and the petition shall be heard. That’s all. In the course of the hearing of the petition, the body of the petitioner is required to be brought to the court,” Binay said.

“We have sufficient evidence to support our case. I do not know the legal basis for the court to issue a writ of habeas corpus. I would just like to reiterate that the decision of the Court of Appeals is not final and executory,” he added.

Binay is the chair of the Housing and Urban Development Coordinating Council and chairman of the Pag-IBIG Fund Board of Trustees.

The Vice President ordered the filing of syndicated estafa charges against Lee and several Globe Asiatique officials in December 2010 in connection with the grant of almost P7 billion in loans to Lee who used ghost borrowers to obtain the loans.

    1. It is a fact that all these scammers/plunderers have something in common. They lie & lie with elongated nose to find a way out by delaying until a new political power clan rescue them. Yet there are so many crooks in our nation, both businessmen & the politicians. It is impossible to take them out at once together to serve for justice. And the President therefore choose his political enemy. The Vice President not to be left behind to portray himself as a graft & corruption fighter, he chose Delfin Lee. Remember that being targeted doesnt mean the targets are innocent. Apparently they are not. Yet the accused used it as an excuse claiming that a political “persecution”. It’s very true that greed does create fools.

    2. The same thing..like in all other scams involving money…big sums changed hands in form of “GREASE”..and those GREASED PEOPLE are likely close to influential politicians or the politicians themselves.

KABAYAN gising ka na ba?? I mean the Filipino people…we were fooled and the hard earned contributions we earnestly give to PAG-IBIG were looted by heartless people ( intsik na naman ) and inured to their own benefit. KABAYAN will languish forever..I mean the Filipino people..

    3. I hope he rots in hell. Of course he will say he is innocent, i mean none of these scammers are guilty are they. No matter what the evidence they will never admit guilt. Look at ruby tuason, she wants to be a state witness yet she cant even come clean on what money she has as people will then know the full extent of her invovlement in the pork barrel scam. Lock these people up in normal jail cells with normal prisoners, dont worry about their safety as they wont admit guilt & tell you everything, its in their nature to lie & cheat so dont suddenly expect they will see this light & want to unburden themselves to god like ruby tuason tried to tell us. I know a lot of you will believe her & she knows it to thats why she fools you. As i said let these scum rot in hell

    4. I wonder to myself if lawyers have any conscience at all, like Mr. W. Rivera knowing that Mr. Lee obtain a loan of significant amount to ghost borrowers, knowing that this scheme is illegal? just asking for my enlightenment.
