Running for Vice President is far from the mind of Camarines Sur Rep. Leni Robredo.

She told the media during her visit in Kidapawan City, North Cotabato that she has not discussed the post with Interior Secretary and Liberal Party (LP) presidential bet Mar Roxas.

“VP is a media idea,” she said.

Robredo clarified that Roxas asked her if she was willing to run for a Senate seat and that he gave her time to make her decision. But she has not warmed up to the idea of running for vice president.

“Even my children are against the idea of me running for VP. They are violently against it,” she said.

“There are other members of LP who are competent and qualified. Ate Vi (Batangas Gov. Vilma Santos-Recto) is good, she is experienced. “My experience is a product of osmosis from my husband’s politics,” she added.

The widow of former Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Jesse Robredo said vice president is “too early” for her career that came “out of the blue.”

She urged appealers to open their mind and pray as life has no certainty, citing the story of her husband, who unexpectedly died in a plane crash in 2012.

Robredo was the guest of honor during the celebration of the 101st Founding Anniversary of North Cotabato wherein she praised the successful and peaceful celebration led by Gov. Emmylou Taliño-Mendoza.

In her speech, Robredo told the people that “iba ang situwasyon [dito]sa North Cotabato, marami na kayong nasimulan dito, kailangan na lamang natin ipagpatuloy. Ganon paman, maging instrumento tayo na sama-sama tayo sa pagsulong ng marapat at matuwid na pamamahala. [Life here in North Cotabato is different, you had started so many things, and it needs to be continued. Moreover, let us unite to be an instrument in advancing proper and right governance.]”

Robredo was also impressed with the vibrant rich cultures and ethnicities of North Cotabato.

The commemoration held on Tuesday winded up the month-long celebration of Kalivungan Festival.
