LEGAZPI CITY: Neophyte solon Leni Gerona-Robredo of Camarines Sur (3rd District) is considering the offer of the Liberal Party for her to run for a senate post in the upcoming May 2016 elections.
“I’m open to a senatorial post but I want to make sure that my district (which) I am vacating, in case I decide to run for higher position, will be in good hands so the people’s needs, will not be neglected,” Robredo told The Manila Times.
She said the possible candidate for the congressional race in the 3rd district is former Vice Mayor now Councilor Gabriel “Gabby” Bordado of Naga City, who expressed his interest to the post.
Robredo decided to run for Congress after her husband died in a plane crash in 2012.
When asked who will be her presidential bet in 2016, as President Aquino is considering Sen. Grace Poe, an independent candidate, as a bet for the administration. Also noting that Poe has topped recent surveys against Vice President Jejomar Binay and Interior and Local Government Secretary Mar Roxas.
“Presidency should not be based on popularity. The suited president should be matino at mahusay (sensible and prudent),” she said.
Robredo chairman of the Regional Advisory Council Meeting of the Philippine National Police came to Camp Gen. Semion Ola on Thursday where she presides over the monthly meeting.
Robredo, won by a landslide against Nelly Villafuerte, wife of former Camarines Sur Rep. Luis Villafuerte in the 3rd District of Camarines Sur.
