The Department of Health (DOH) reported 387 leptospirosis from January to July 26 nationwide, which is 58.39 percent lower compared to the same period last year of 930.
The DOH said most of the cases came from Region VI with 83 (21.45 percent), followed by Region II with 55 (14.21 percent), NCR (National Capital Region), 39 (10.08 percent); Region X, 37 (9.56 percent) Region III (9.04 percent).
Most of the patients belong to the 25 to 39 age group.
A total of 24 deaths were reported, lower than last year’s figure of 73.
At the NCR , 17 cases were recorded in Manila, three in Quezon City while one or two cases each in Las Pinas , Kaloocan, Makati City, Marikina City, Muntinlupa City, Paranaque and Pasay City, Valenzuela City. No cases were reported in Pasig City, Pateros, San Juan City, Taguig City and Mandaluyong.
