The Letran College Knights will be gunning for a Final Four berth when they battle the University of Perpetual Help System DALTA Altas at 4 p.m. today in the National Collegiate Athletic Association Season 91 men’s basketball tournament at The Arena in San Juan City.
The Knights are also eyeing the last twice-to-beat incentive. Letran was beaten by the Red Lions 73-77 on Tuesday.
“I’m still proud of my players despite that loss. We narrowed the gap from 14 points down to only four, but we just couldn’t make some shots in the endgame,” said Letran coach Aldin Ayo, referring to the Knights’ last game against the Red Lions.
“We really need to come out huge against Perpetual. We need to win that game,” he said. I believe my players will take charge.”
The Knights, now occupying the second spot with 12-5 win-loss record, will bank on pro-bound players Kevin Racal and Mark Cruz, forward Rey Nambatac and JP Calvo, in battling the Altas. A victory by Letran will result in a playoff match for the no. 1 position against the Red Lions.
In the other two matches, Jose Rizal University (11-6) will face San Sebastian College (6-11) at 12 noon while Mapua will take on Emilio Aguinaldo College (2-15) at 2 p.m.
