LETRAN Knights seek for their 11th win and strengthen their hold of solo second when they battle Jose Rizal University Heavy Bombers while Arellano tries to keep its hope for a Final Four alive on Saturday in the 89th National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) basketball tournament at the San Juan Arena in San Juan City.
The Knights of coach Caloy Garcia are currently in solo third with a 10-3 win-loss slate, just half a game away from University of
Perpetual Help Altas, who are bearing an 11-4 card.
Defending titlist San Beda College Red Lions are occupying the top spot with a 12-2 record following their 78-76 edge over the Altas last Thursday.
A win by the 16-time champion Knights would again move them to solo second, which is very vital in their quest of grabbing the second twice-to-beat incentive in the Final Four.
Both Letran and the Heavy Bombers, who are toting a 5-7 card will collide at 4 p.m. while Arellano tries to prove its mastery over
cellar dweller Mapua Institute of Technology Cardinals at 6 p.m.
Except for Mapua, all the rests of the nine teams have still a strong
chance of making it to the next round. Arellano with its 4-9 card needs to sweep its last five remaining matches including against Mapua today to be in the running and hopefully reach the Final Four for the first time.
