Leviste arraignment reset

The Sandiganbayan’s Fifth Division deferred the arraignment for the malversation case against former Batangas Gov. Jose Antonio Leviste in connection with cash advances he allegedly failed to liquidate in 2003 while chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Philippine Retirement Authority (PRA). The arraignment was reset to July 6 after his lawyer, Dennis Manalo, sought deferment pending an ominibus motion they filed seeking case dismissal for lack of probable cause. Meanwhile, Leviste’s co-accused, former PRA Accountant Philip John Moreno (also former chief of PRA’s Financial Planning and Control Division), pleaded not guilty to the charge.
