LOS ANGELES: The son of former Baltimore Ravens great Ray Lewis was arrested on Friday (Saturday in Manila) and charged with criminal sexual conduct.
Ray Lewis III, a 20-year-old football player at Coastal Carolina University in Conway, South Carolina, is accused of sexually assaulting an 18-year-old woman while knowing she was under the influence of drugs or alcohol, Conway City Police said.
The alleged incident occurred in the early morning hours of January 23 in an apartment near the university campus.
Police responded to a nearby medical center, where two victims alleged that Lewis had assaulted them, according to an incident report provided by police.
The second alleged victim’s complaint remains under investigation.
Authorities said that Lewis turned himself in to police on Friday, was booked into the J. Reuben Long Detention Center and later released on $10,000 bond.
He also was indefinitely suspended from the Coastal Carolina football team, the university said in a statement.
Lewis’s famous father had his own brushes with the law.
In 2000 he was charged with murder after the stabbing deaths of two men in Atlanta.
He eventually pleaded guilty to obstruction of justice, receiving a year of probation.
The defensive star retired in 2013.
