In a bid to find ways to highlight and enhance the profile of the Asia Pacific region amongst the Portuguese people, Philippine Ambassador to Portugal Philippe Lhuillier organized an informal gathering with fellow ambassadors from the region in Lisbon.

Out of the 11 countries from Asia and the Pacific that have diplomatic presence in Portugal, six ambassadors, namely Chakorn Suchiva of Thailand, Hiroshi Azuma of Japan, Mulya Wirana of Indonesia, Anne Plunkett of Australia, Leena Salim Moazzam of Pakistan, and Yoo Jung-hee of South Korea were present during the lunch meeting.

The group unanimously welcomed Ambassador Lhuillier’s proposal for regular activities to be held in which Portuguese guests from several sectors including the government, business, academe, politics, and media would be invited. These events aim to generate better awareness and discuss relevant issues between Portugal and Asia Pacific.

The meeting was held in December 2014 in the Portuguese capital.
