Seasoned libero Jen Reyes of Petron became the fourth member of the Philippine Superliga (PSL) All-Star team that will compete in the FIVB Women’s Club World Championship slated on October 18 to 23 at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.
Reyes received the golden ticket from PSL President Ramon Suzara on Tuesday during PSL’s out-of-town game in Batangas City.
“I am just happy that they have trusted me to be on this team. I did not expect this,” said Reyes, a former Best Receiver and Best Digger awardee in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines.
With her speed, agility and leadership on the court, Reyes is considered to be one of the country’s best floor defenders.
“She’s the best in the business when it comes to defending the floor. It’s going to be a great opportunity for Reyes to experience world-class volleyball action and learn from her foreign teammates and coaches. We hope that she will do her best to make the country proud,” added Suzara.
Reyes, a National University standout, has been a member of the national team in some international tournaments. She will join setter Kim Fajardo of F2 Logistics, and opposite hitter Jovelyn Gonzaga and open spiker Rachel Anne Daquis of RC Cola-Army in the PSL All-Star team.
Three more local players are expected to be named in the coming days as seven local players and seven foreign reinforcements will comprise the 14-member PSL All-Star for the world meet.
The PSL All-Star will be playing against the world’s best teams namely Rexona Ades of Brazil, Bangkok Glass of Thailand, Volero Zurich of Switzerland, Hisamitsu Springs of Japan, Eczacibasi VitrA Istanbul and VakifBank Istanbul of Turkey and Pomi Casalmaggiore of Italy.
