• Life term for killer of Cherry Pie’s ma

A Quezon City court on Thursday sentenced the killer of television and movie actress Cherry Pie Picache’s mother to life imprisonment.

Judge Alfonso V. Cruz 2nd convicted Michael Flores for robbery with homicide.

The court also ordered Flores to pay the victim’s family P1.2 million for actual damages, P50,000 for moral damages and another P50,000 for civil indemnity.

Flores is now under the custody of the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP).
Members of the Picache family attended the promulgation wearing orange shirts. They said Zenaida Sison, Cherry Pie’s mother, can now rest peacefully.

Sison, 75, was found dead inside their house in Quezon City on September 19, 2014.
Flores, a stay-out houseboy of Sison for six months, was arrested on October 7, 2014 in Laguna.

He pleaded guilty during his arraignment on October 23, 2014, confessing that he took shabu before entering Sison’s house in Barangay Paligsahan, Quezon City.
Flores then took Sison’s money, jewelry and mobile phone.

However, the victim woke up and shouted for help. Flores said Sison put up a fight, prompting him to stab the woman to death.

Cherry Pie took to Instagram to express her emotions over the court’s ruling.

She posted in her account (@yescppicache) a photo of a yellow ribbon captioned; “Thank you so much for all your prayers. Justice prevailed. Another journey begins.”

On Wednesday, she previously posted a photo of the Virgin Mary. She wrote along with it,
“Today as we celebrate the feast of the Immaculate Conception of our most loving Mama Mary, please pray with us on our supplications. We praise and thank God for all the wonderful shower of blessings big and small. He continuously gives to each & everyone in the family.

She added, “Mama Mary, pls intercede for us. Missing you to the core ma. Sending you all my love, hugs& kisses. #thankyouGod #foryoumama”
