Abu Sayyaf dialed 911 for help. Line was busy.

The Philippines is softening its stand on its territorial dispute with China. It is withdrawing the name “West Philippine Sea” to be replaced with “Uncle Sam’s Sea” as a compromise.

The battle being waged in Aleppo is getting uglier. It is an example of how conflicts will be handled in the decades to come. The single enemy is ISIS alright, but there exists political complexities among the players fighting on the same side. Syria, US-led coalition, Russia, Syrian rebels, Turkey, Kurds, Iraq and Iran. To make the matter more complex, Arab gulf states and Israel have their own views as well.

There are 166 exceptions listed for FOI. Anything left on the Rule?

The government is really serious in solving crimes in the country. They’re putting up a P1,000 reward for those who can help pinpoint the whereabouts of the killer of Melvin “Dragon” Odicta and wife. The reward is tax free, if I may add.

There’s no truth that the favorite childhood game of President Digong was ‘Tumbang-Preso”… and his favorite reclining chair is “Tumba-Tumba.”

If Sen. De Lima thinks she’s being treated unfairly, she can dial 8888 to complain. DU30 is always on stand by to help.

OSLO: One small step of friendship and goodwill, one big leap for peace.

When I get stuck in traffic, I really want to MOVE ON but I can’t.

Alleged drug lord Melvin “Dragon” Odicta and his wife were shot dead by an unidentified man in Caticlan port in Malay, Aklan early Monday. One alleged big fish down. Killer is still on the loose. I’m sure that not so many people are interested to know who did the job. Not even their friends. Exit the dragon. Case closed.

A noble purpose is never an excuse in ending another man’s life at will. I despise drug distribution and addiction. It really is a menace that needs to be stopped. But judgment rushed is justice denied. Especially if it came from hooded elements. The death of anyone is final and irreversible and the truth will never be known. This “noble purpose” will be contagious and encourage others to do the same and use the same reason to get even. Innocent victims will leave a grieving family that someday will avenge the mistake done. Senseless killings will pervade if the objective is misinterpreted or abused. Nice to hear a deadline met but sad to know if the total cost will be too steep, destructive and thus, unaffordable. Again, NO to drugs but NO to impunity of any form.

Secretary Bebot Bello has a big problem. How to abolish ENDO among ghost employees in the government. He should know what group to call… “Who you gonna call?”…

If former president Ferdinand Marcos will be buried beside Ninoy Aquino at Libingan ng mga Bayani, should we allow Rolando Galman to be buried between the two to complete the story?

Sister Mary John Mananzan asked, “who would want to be a whistle-blower?” Of course the answer is none. A whistle-blower protected by nuns to cover his sins is not enough guarantee for immunity.

BPI clarifies that not all clients are required to update their account info. Until the next announcement…

Dick Gordon, now a senator again, is often overlooked and misunderstood. He often says that what you see is what you get to project his sincerity by telling it like it is. True, but Dick is much, much more than that. Dick Gordon is passion and compassion rolled into one. Underneath his epidermis is a lot, lot more. More than what meets the eye. Some say he is a marketeer, and some will say that he is a good manager and administrator. Maybe so but for me he is a damn good teacher who will ALWAYS encourage you to learn more.

He is one of the very few who is always trying to compete with himself. To outdo what he has done. Giving up is farthest from his mind and he is bent on solving problems others would not dare or care to even touch. His work ethic is iconic. He may not have the surname that bespeaks wealth but the memories of his Papa and Mama’s insistence to do things right is the very foundation where his feet are glued on. For others, patience is a virtue but for him, impatience is a greater virtue more so in getting things done ON TIME. He shouts to make a point but whispers to comfort and console. Such is Dick. As hard and soft as he can get.

What’s probably scaring a lot of our citizenry is the long shadow cast by our men in uniform. Under it are the volunteers, guns for hire, death squads or vigilantes all contributing to make this shadow longer than it should be. Is the long list meant to be checked daily to make a tally of targets felled down either by natural cause or mysterious circumstances? Applause or boos may precede each police blotter unfolding but fury, fear, hate, consent and outrage will be a strange mix in this boiling cauldron we call peace and order. My taste buds are not quite prepared for a big swallow of this strange recipe. Not the menu but probably the cooking style of the Iron Chef. One mischievous cook can poison the whole dish.
