An aircraft personnel was injured on Thursday night after being struck by lightning while on duty amid rains.
An incident report from the Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) showed that mechanic Celdon Abalang was servicing a plane at Bay 109 when lightning struck the aircraft’s tail at 7:30 pm.
The electric current passed through the wire connected to the headset of Abalang, the report said.
He was immediately brought to their station for treatment and transferred to San Juan De Dios hospital where he was diagnosed with second degree burns.
Abalang works for the A+ Aviation Partnership Avionics.
According to the incident report, he was servicing one of the planes used by Cebu Pacific.
Injuries from being struck by lightning usually range from serious burns to cardiac arrest. PNA
