You know it’s Christmas when everywhere you go, giant trees and dazzling lights start to greet you at every corner. And this past week, The Manila Times had the joyful opportunity to see the yuletide season officially begin in many of the metro’s favorite spots.
Each with their own colors and themes to deck their trees, here is a guide on where to find the most beautiful sights of the season, sure to get everyone in the Christmas spirit from hereon through December.
MassKara Festival inspires ‘Grand Fiesta’
On Thursday night, Resorts World Manila (RWM) held the much-awaited tree lighting at The Plaza, Newport Mall signaling the start of the annual Grand Fiesta Manila 2015.
Already on its sixth year, RWM’s holiday fête pays homage to Bacolod’s renowned MassKara Festival this year with the theme “The Many Faces of Holiday Thrills.”
Similar to how the iconic parade breathes life to Bacolod’s distinction as the “City of Smiles,” the Grand Fiesta crams the vibrant colors and merry imageries Filipinos are known for into a month-long marathon offering of the best concerts, parties, movies, shows, exhibits, promos, and exclusive events all under one roof.
A night of spectacular lights and sounds
More than 300 guests from leading corporations, diplomatic community, media, and hotel friends joined witnessed The Manila Hotel’s Grand Lobby Lighting ceremony on Thursday.
Resident Manager Gerhard Doll welcomed the guests with his opening remarks, as Manila Vice Mayor Isko Moreno arrived to grace the night’s compelling affair. Moreno also led the lighting of not only the Christmas tree but also the entire Grand Lobby, emanating spectacle and brilliance.
As the luminous lights were revealed, a ceremonial toast led by The Manila Hotel’s president Joey Lina was done to officially kick-off the Christmas mood at the Hotel.
A white Christmas at Mandaluyong
Edsa Shangri-La, Manila officially welcomes the beginning of the festive season with the annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony held on Tuesday at the hotel’s Grand Lobby.
It was a spectacular affair as guests walked into a white winter with brilliantly lit Christmas Trees that even changes colors. There were snowflakes, glittering lights, polar bears, snowman, and ice castles and even, to everyone’s surprise, a magical snowfall.
The night was a celebration in honor of the community where Edsa Shangri-La, Manila has been part of for the past 25 years. Guests were also introduced to the children from Isla De Cocomo learning center, the beneficiary of Shangri-La’s embrace program for 19 years.
APEC-inspired holiday tree lighted
Diamond Hotel Philippines officially began the celebration of the holidays with the lighting of its 25-foot Christmas Tree decorated with festive ornaments and dolls dressed in the national costumes of the Asia Pacific Economic Forum (APEC) participating and visiting economies. Giving holiday cheers to mallgoers
In celebration of its second Christmas this 2015, Century City Mall is now decked with delightful ornaments in themes of red, white, gold, and green guaranteed to bring holiday warmth and cheer to mallgoers.
Officially jumpstarting the festive yuletide season, the mall held back-to-back Christmas Tree Lighting ceremonies on November 6 and November 7. Adorned with reindeer and holiday decors, the Christmas Tree stands amid the mall’s spacious 4th Level atrium.
The kids of House of Refuge Foundation, the Hotel’s chosen beneficiary, were treated to holiday gifts given by Santa Claus.
