Mike Lim, Ronnie Suarez and Naoto Tago emerged victorious in the 28th Dr. Vicente Dy Sun Sr. Memorial Golf Cup on Friday at the west course of Wack Wack Golf and Country Club in Mandaluyong City.
Lim, a construction firm owner, posted a leading score of 69 (three-under-par) to take home the Class A title of the annual amateur tournament held in memory of Dr. Vicente Dy Sun Sr., who founded Yakult Philippines in 1978.
“This is my first time to participate and win the title here, I’m just lucky,” the 35-year-old Lim told The Manila Times. “It is very overwhelming first and foremost. I just arrived late but I’m happy to reach the cut, then I played good. I also didn’t expect to win the title.”
“I’m playing golf for the past 10 years in my club and it’s really a great pleasure to be invited here by Michael Ong,” he added.
Tootsie De Jesus finished second with 72 (72 net) while Winston Lee finished third with 83 (72.2 net) in the competition joined by more than 140 golfers.
