New multi-production company launched
Former Manila City representative Miles Roces led the launch of Limitless Ventures on Wednesday, branded a “multi-production campaign organizer,” which seeks to bring the best of the world’s stage and events to the Filipino audience.
Together with business partners Ivan Zalameda (the man behind such successful restaurant and business concepts as Draft Gastro Pub and Opus Lounge), and advertising expert Icel Argana (credited for mounting large scale events for multinational corporations in recent years), Miles, whose legendary family name is also ensconced in the arts besides politics and journalism, has found an avenue where he can simultaneously pursue his collective interests and advocacies.
A former TV host and current member of Manila Film Festival executive committee, Miles, who holds the record as the capital’s youngest ever elected councilor in the 1990s, explained exactly how: “As we strive to bring to Filipinos world-class performances, Limitless Ventures also enables us to promote our country internationally through partnerships we’ve established in South East Asia, Europe and America.”
Citing an example, Limitless Ventures’ very first endeavor, Phil It Up, brings together international model Sophie Sumner and globetrotting rock star Mig Ayesa in a reality-based travel program across the Philippines, which the company is soon to air over an Asian cable channel.
Just this March as well, the company mounted the highly successful “Feast of Colours” at the Sofitel Philippine Plaza, which featured Next Iron Chef Season 4 winner Geoffrey Zakarian in a cooking demo that tested his epicurean skills on variations of the national dish adobo. Besides pulling off a gastronomic spectacle, Miles and his partners more importantly accomplished Limitless Ventures’ underlying objective of “giving back to society” by donating the event proceeds to the Philippine Disaster Recovery Foundation (PDRF).
“Essentially, our goal is to help the country through our productions, which can be done in
many different ways,” continued the private citizen who remains a public servant at heart.
Again, Miles cited the company’s latest partnership with Feld Entertainment to bring Disney Live! presents Three Classic Fairy Tales to the SM Mall of Asia Arena in September. While something for fairy tale fans on the surface, she still used it as an opportunity to “give importance” to a particular group of Filipino achievers.
“We at Limitless are very impressed with the work of Tesda [Technical Education and Skills Development Authority] under Secretary Joel Villanueva, and will give all Tesda graduates and their families ticket discounts to enjoy the Disney show,” she enthused.
Miles believes that graduates of tech-voc courses remain undervalued in society, thus the small “tribute” by means of reduced ticket prices for them.
“These things are just the beginning of what Limitless Ventures can do for social change,” he promised. “And this is what is most important for us in our company, be it in something simple as this or, as we plan, in a much bigger scale in the future.”
