Celebrity stylist Liz Uy is fighting for her reputation by filing six counts of libel with slander against Michael Sy Lim of blogsite Fashion Pulis.

She was accompanied by her lawyers Lorna Kapunan and Irene Besido-Garcia to the Makati City Prosecutor’s Office this afternoon, where she also claimed she became a victim of cyberbullying because of Lim’s erroneous claims that she used “recycled” pieces of clothing in styling top celebrity Maine Mendoza of Eat Bulaga’s AlDub.

According to the Uy, Lim did not research the facts of his malicious posts, which resulted in a barrage of hurtful criticisms by Mendoza’s fans.

Besides tarnishing her reputation as a stylist, she continues to receive hate mail from netizens, whom she does not necessarily claim to be AlDub fans to play safe. Nevertheless, it is a widely known fact that anything negative associated with Alden Richards or Maine Mendoza these days causes uproar online from their supporters.

Also present at the complaint filling were actress-model Isabelle Daza and magazine editor Isha Andaya-Valles who were also sworn in as witnesses for the slander complaint versus Lim. Both categorically stated that they overheard the blogger say that the Gucci jacket Mendoza wore for a magazine shoot was previously worn by Uy herself.

If proven guilty, Lim faces imprisonment for six to 12 years under the Cyber Crime Act of 2012, this on top of P11-million civil damages to be paid to the complainant.

As of press time, The Manila Times is still seeking Lim’s reaction on the suit.
