Janelle Carmela Llavore and Mat Steve Palasan will lead the junior netters competing in the first leg of the 18th HEAD Junior Tennis Satellite Circuit starting today at the Nazareth tennis court in Cagayan De Oro City.
Llavore will see action in the 18-and-under girls’ singles class with promising netters Gennifer Pagente and Mary Aubrey Calma from March 28 to April 1.
Palasan will test his mettle against Carmela’s brother Jonelle Christian Llavore and Kenichiro Suzuki in the boys’ 16 and 18-under singles division.
Over 150 players from all over Mindanao are expected to join the first leg of the competition.
“For the past 18 years, HEAD has spearheaded this satellite circuit to support budding players all over the country. We truly believe these players can excel not just locally but also abroad,” says Thea Llamson-Concepcion, HEAD corporate marketing manager.
“They are the future athletes that will bring pride and honor to our country. Through this grassroots tournament, we continuously support the youth in their passion and drive to excel in tennis. Here they can showcase their talents so that they can compete not just locally but abroad.”
The second leg of the tournament will be held in Davao City from April 4 to 8. The succeeding legs of the tourney will be held in Cebu City (April 10 to 14), Iloilo City (April 16 to 20), Bacolod City (April 22 to 26), Naga City (May 4 to 8), Baguio City (May 11 to 15), La Union (May 18 to 22), Olongapo City (May 24 to 28) and Manila (May 30 to June 3).
