THE British Embassy in the Philippines on Tuesday made a final call to Filipino teachers as well as higher education institutions that the deadline for scholarship nominations is on April 1, 2016 (Friday).

The program is open to college faculty and staff who wish to pursue master’s and doctoral degrees during the Kindergarten to Grade 12 (K-to-12) transition period.

The British government, through the Commission on Higher Education (CHED), is encouraging higher education institutions (HEIs) to nominate their qualified faculty and staff to earn grad- uate degrees.

The Graduate Education Scholarships for Faculty and Staff, under the CHED Memorandum Order 3, s. 2016, aims to mitigate impact on labor and to upgrade qualifications of faculty.

It was found that thousands of college faculty will be displaced and terminated during the transition period.

The Department of Education earlier said only highly competent teachers will be hired to teach in Senior High School (Grades 11 and 12), which will begin its nationwide implementation in June 2016.

Interested individuals must meet the following requirements: curriculum vitae; one-page thesis/ dissertation proposal (faculty with ongoing master’s/doctoral studies; reentry plan and return service contract; DBP form and 1×1 photo; proof of citizenship (Philippine Statistics Authority authenticated birth certificate, information page of valid passport, voter’s ID); and medical certificate issued by a government physician within the last 6 months and medical exam results
