DEFENSE Secretary Delfin Lorenzana is urging those “who are losing their path to come back to be law-abiding citizens” once again.
“For those who are losing their path, come back to being law-abiding citizens. The government is more than welcome for your return anytime that you would want without setting any conditions,” Lorenzana said in a statement in Filipino on Sunday.
“This is an opportunity for us to thrive in such ways that this government has been offering to us,” Lorenzana said after Congress voted to extend martial law in Mindanao and suspend the writ of habeas corpus until Decembe 31, 2017 to give the government more time to quell the alleged rebellion in the south by Islamist extremists.
At the same time, Lorenzana vowed to use his department to round up offenders should they persist in their “crooked ways”, and face the penalties mandated by law.
“If you persist in your crooked ways, the armed forces and the police will come after you without let up,” he said.
