‘Love birds’ found dead in Baguio apartelle

BAGUIO CITY: Two alleged lovers were found dead in an apartelle in Barangay Lower Phil-Am on Tuesday morning with gunshot wounds in their bodies.

Police blotter from precinct five of Baguio City Police Office showed a shooting incident involving two casualties occurred between 10:30 a.m. of July 15 and 7:20 a.m. of July 16 at the second floor of Room 202 at Ferioni 2 Apartelle.

Investigators said that the couple who came from Meycauayan, Bulacan checked in at around 11:41 a.m. on July 14.

Room boy Gaspar Durin was about to do his daily clean up in the rooms but noticed that Room 202 was still locked and the guests failed to reply to his persistent knocks on the door.

Upon opening the room, he found the couple lying face up on the bed with blood stains.

The male fatality was identified by the police as Angelito Rivero, of No. 10, Bangga, Meycauyan, Bulacan based on a driver’s license recovered from his wallet.

The lady was later identified as Maritess Baniqued after her friends from Meycauayan, Bulacan arrived.

Scene of the Crime Operatives (Soco) led by Supt. Jaime Rodrigo Leal and Supt. Maurice Coria-en recovered a .38 revolver and three pieces of fired cartridge case.

Soco revealed that Rivero possibly shot Baniqued first before killing himself, as evidenced in the latter’s gunshot wounds.

The dead couple were brought to a chapel for further autopsy while police are still looking into the man’s motive in killing his partner.
