The era of “Roaring Twenties America,” as described by young agricultural billionaire Joseph Calata of Calata Corporation, was when people “dressed better and sleeker.” He admitted to adopting this fashion paradigm, while finding another way to explore the concept when he tied the knot with long-time girlfriend, Marnely Salvador.

Marnely—resplendent in an intricately designed long-sleeved, Victorian-inspired lace gown by Veluz Puno Reyes—walked down the aisle to meet her groom who looked sleek in a Francis Libiran ensemble.

Makati City. Presider and minister, Daet Bishop Gilbert Garcera, was joined by Batanes Bishop Camilio Gregorio (as homilist), Malolos Bishop Jose Francisco Oliveros, and Cubao Bishop Honesto Ongtioco.

The Gospel Music Ministry choir filled the church with angelic voices, while actress Ai-Ai delas Alas served as one of the readers.

Leading the Calata’s list of principal sponsors were Vice President Jejomar “Jojo” Binay, Sen. Edgardo Angara, Ilocos Sur Gov. Luis “Chavit” Singson, Isabela Gov. Faustino “Bojie” Dy, Tarlac Gov. Victor Yap, broadcaster Teddy Boy Locsin, businessman Peter Coyiuto, and entrepreneurs Zenaida “Nedy” Tantoco, Pinky Tobiano, Ann Puno, and Tina Jacinto.

Cocktails followed at the Raffles Hotel in Ayala Center where guests were entertained by a wonderful string quartet, as they sipped wine and champagne and feasted on lavish hors d’oeuvres.

Expert wedding planner and coordinator Ernest Pascual of Bespoke Manila saw to it that the event proceeded with nary a hitch.

The ballroom was an inspiring sight of beautiful white flowers. Tables were lined with dozens of elegant candelabras that gave off the light of 1,500 flickering candles.

The distinguished roster of guests included members of the diplomatic community, movers and shakers in national and local government, business, entertainment, and media.

Among the notable guests were Sen. Cynthia Villar, Swiss Ambassador Ivo and Gracita Sieber, New Zealand Ambassador Reuben Levermore, Chilean Ambassador Roberto and Paulina Mayorga Lorca, Czech Ambassador Josef Rychtar, Singaporean Ambassador VP and Mano Hirubalan, EU Ambassador Guy and Margaret Ledoux, Greek Ambassador Constantina Koliou, and Eti Bar-On, wife of the Isreali Ambasador.
