Loyola Meralco Sparks FC bounced back from last week’s loss with a win against Team Socceroo FC, 4-0 at the Rizal Memorial Football Stadium on Tuesday.
After bowing to United Football League leaders Ceres La Salle FC, 1-6, in their previous outing, the Sparks came back with a steady win against a lower ranked club on Tuesday night.
The reigning national club champs Loyola FC went into full gear on their offense to bring down Team Socceroo in the first half.
However, it was only in the 40th minute that the attacks of Loyola paid off after Grahan Caygill capitalized on Napoleon Bustillo’s pass to open the scoring.
The slow pace of the match-up continued on the second half with Team Socceroo’s stiff back-line preventing their rivals from penetrating their territory.
But Loyola woke up from the slumber as Phil Younghusband converted in the 74th and 84th minutes for a 3-0 score.
Substitute Lee Joo Young, who was fielded in the 57th minute for Bustillo, sank the final goal for Loyola for a 4-0 win.
Meanwhile, Ceres La Salle FC continued its domination of the UFL division by dumping Pachanga Diliman FC, 5-0.
Spanish striker Adrian Gallardo Valdes propelled his team to another win after notching a hat trick after 35 minutes of action.
As play resumed for another 45 minutes, Gallardo Valdes added another mark to his impressive tally in the 59th minute from a dish by Bienvenido Marañon, who ended the game with three assists, inside the box.
In the dying seconds of injury time, Lee Jeong Woo etched the final marker on the scorecards after a sneaky attack deep inside the territory of Pachanga Diliman.
