Liberal Party (LP) President-on-leave Manuel “Mar” Roxas 2nd has welcomed investigation over alleged pre-shaded ballots in Taguig and favoring adminsitration candidates, saying that the 2013 polls are more credible than the past two elections held.

Roxas, who heads the Department of Interior and Local Government, was referring to the allegations made by United Nationalists Alliance Secretary General and Rep. Tobias Tiangco of Navotas that there are pre-shaded ballots at the P. Burgos Elementary School and P. Guevarra Elementary School in Manila and in Signal Village in Taguig favoring administration candidates.

“I support any kind of investigation, from the chain of custody of ballots, printer, distribution. It is important that we get to the bottom of this, who opened plastic, if this is indeed true,” Roxas told reporters in a press conference held at the Team PNoy headquarters in Makati City.

“I have also heard a same report in Mindoro Occidental, and I am looking for more details. But so far, I would say it is isolated,” Roxas added.

Having said that, Roxas pronounced that the 2013 polls is more credible compared with the 2007 and 2010 elections because election-related incidents (ERI) and malfunctioning precinct count optical scan (PCOS) machines have been both reduced by half.

Per police records, there are only 81 ERIs for the 2013 polls. This figure is lower compared with 2007 (229) and 2010 (176).

As for the PCOS machines, 200 of the 78,000 PCOS machines malfunctioned. The number is also down from the 400 PCOS machines that bogged down during the unprecedented 2010 automated polls.

“I would like to congratulate our countrymen because it is clear that they are the ones who won in these elections. The 2013 polls has been more peaceful, orderly, regular and believable compared with 2010 and 2007. There have been unfortunate incidents but these are isolated,” Roxas pointed out.

“The processing of results is much faster. There were malfunctions, but this is a very small figure. The malfunctions notwithstanding, there was a clear process on what to do,” Roxas added.

LP is the leader of the Team PNoy coalition, which is currently dominating the Senate race.
Of those in the Magic 12, nine are from Team PNoy coalition in order of the number of votes: Grace Poe-Llamanzares, Sen. Loren Legarda, Sen. Alan Peter Cayetano, Sen. Francis Escudero, Rep. Edgardo “Sonny” Angara of Aurora, Paolo Benigno “Bam” Aquino 4th, Sen. Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel 3rd, Sen. Antonio Trillanes 4th and former-Rep. Cynthia Villar.
