THE low pressure area (LPA) spotted east of Southern Luzon may intensify into a tropical cyclone in the next 48 hours, the weather bureau said on Sunday.
Weather forecaster Gladys Saludes said the LPA has a high chance of turning into a cyclone and will be named Inday once it enters the Philippine area of responsibility.
Saludes added that the LPA will dump rain on the eastern part of Southern Luzon, Bicol Region and Eastern Visayas. The southwest monsoon or hanging habagat will continue to be the dominant weather system bringing intermittent to continuous rains in these areas.
The rest of the country including Metro Manila will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers due to localized thunderstorms.
