A weather disturbance which is now inside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) will bring rains in some parts of Visayas and Mindanao on Tuesday, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).
In an interview, PAGASA weather forecaster Aldczar Aurelio said that as of 4 a.m., the low pressure area (LPA) was spotted some 220 km East of Surigao City (9.6°N, 127.5°E).
Aurelio said the LPA has slim chance to intensify into tropical cyclone and expected to dissipate in the next 24 hours due to hitting landmass.
He added that the agency will continue to monitor the LPA and once it intensified into a tropical depression, it will be named “Seniang”, the 19th tropical cyclone to affect the country this year.
Aurelio said the presence of the LPA will bring cloudy skies with light to moderate rainshowers over parts of Eastern Visayas and Caraga.
Meanwhile, he said the tail-end of a cold front and Northeast monsoon continue to affect Central and Northern Luzon.
The cold northeast monsoon or “hanging amihan” is expected to bring cloudy skies with passing light rains in Northern Luzon.
With the effect of Northeast Monsoon, PAGASA said a strong to gale force winds will cause rough to very rough sea conditions over the seaboards of Northern Luzon.
“Fishing boats and other small seacrafts are advised not to venture out into the sea while larger sea vessels are alerted against big waves,” it warned.
Aurelio said the tail-end of a cold front, on the other hand, will bring cloudy skies with light to moderate rains over Central Luzon.
The rest of the country, including Metro Manila, will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with possible isolated rains due to localized thunderstorms.
For Tuesday forecast, PAGASA said Central Luzon, Eastern Visayas and CARAGA will experience cloudy skies with light to moderate rainshowers and thunderstorms while the regions of Cagayan Valley, Cordillera and Ilocos will have cloudy with light rains.
Metro Manila and the rest of the country will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms.
Moderate to strong winds blowing from the northeast will prevail over Luzon and the coastal waters along these areas will be moderate to rough.
Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate coming from the east to northeast with slight to moderate seas. PNA
