MANILA: A low pressure area has been in the Pacific Ocean and it is expected to enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) on Monday, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said on Sunday. Pagasa weather forecaster Manny Mendoza said that if the LPA enters the country, it will bring rains over Eastern Visayas and Bicol region in the next 48 hours. Mendoza said the LPA has a chance to become a tropical depression but it depends on its speed and movement. If it intensifies into a tropical depression, Mendoza said it will be named Ester, the fifth typhoon to affect the country this year.
