Light Rail Manila Corp. (LRMC), operator of Light Rail Transit Line 1 (LRT 1), on Friday issued a statement saying it implements a policy that prohibits trains from leaving stations or the depot if doors are malfunctioning, after a video of a moving train with doors open circulated in the Internet.
On Thursday night, James Cubelo, a passenger of LRT 1, posted a video he had captured while on board a moving train, with its doors open.
The video, which Cubelo posted on the social networking site Facebook, showed the doors of the LRT coach he was in completely open while the train traveled in seemingly full speed from one station to another.
“It is as if we are on a rollercoaster in Star City,” Cubelo said in the self-captured video.
He explained to The Manila Times that he alighted from the train at Central Station south-bound. Cubelo said when the train arrived, all the doors were closed. But when it stopped to drop off and pick up passengers at the Central Station, the doors of the coach he was in did not close.
