• LTO eyes own plate-making machines

Land Transportation Office (LTO) chief Edgar Galvante on Thursday bared plans for the country’s own production of vehicle registration plates through the purchase of new plate-making machines. Galvante told lawmakers during a House transportation committee hearing that it would be better to purchase new machines than to rehabilitate previous ones. He said the technical staff of the office will undergo training for them to be able to efficiently operate the machines. The new machines will be installed in the LTO’s central office on East Avenue, Quezon City (Metro Manila) if the plan is approved.
