New recruit Eddie Bagtas shot a two-over par 74 to power Luisita Golf Club to a one-point lead in the first day of the 2014
Philippine Airlines Seniors Interclub team championship at the Binitin golf course in Bacolod City.
The 58-year-old former pro posted an equivalent of 52 points
under the Molave scoring system on four birdies against four bogeys and a double bogey.
Pepot Inigo provided solid support with 49 points while Seve Roxas Chua added 43 for Luisita’s 144 points. Failing to
count was Lino Magpantay who limped home with 37.
Canlubang was not far behind with 46 points from top gun Dave Hernandez. Rolly Viray was top scorer for the Sugar Barons with 51 points and Tony Olives added 46.
Orchard finished in third place after one of its players was
disqualified for signing the wrong scorecard.
Jun Bailee submitted 48 points – the team’s second best score – but was found to have made a wrong score on the 15th hole.
Luis Miguel Garcia matched Bagtas’ 52 points to lead Orchard which trails Luisita by seven points. Also scoring for the team were Nestor Sevilla 44 and Lee Jim Gon 41.
A six-team race looms in the Founders division, with Wack Wack assuming first place with 129 points on Buddy Velayo’s 46, Takanobu Taira’s 43 and Isaac Go’s 40.
