    Promising tankers Trump Christian Luistro and Estelle Margaret Mendez claimed two gold medals each on the opening day of the 92nd Philippine Swimming League (PSL) National Series Bicol Swim Meet being held at the Mariners Polytechnic University Foundation Swimming Pool in Rawis, Legazpi City.

    Luistro secured gold medals in the boys’ 7-year 25m butterfly with a time of 22 seconds and the 100m Individual Medley via a 1:44.07-minute performance while Mendez was unstoppable in the girls’ 7-year 25m butterfly (21.45) and 100m IM (1:58.10).

    Summer World University Games candidate James Peter Hernandez also made his presence flet by earning a couple of mints in the boys’ 15-over 50m butterfly (28.25) and 100m IM (1:08.05) so as Diliman Preparatory School bet Albert Sermonia II, who dominated the boys’ 11-year 50m butterfly (37.81) and 100m IM (1:26.22).

    “This competition is for Bicolanos as part of our screening for their participation in international meets and Universiade 2017 Taiwan. I love Bicol being my second home and I can see potential swimmers developing in every PSL competitions,” said PSL President Susan Papa.

    Also winning two golds were Isis Arnaldo in the girls’ 11-year 50m butterfly (36.30) and 25m butterfly (23.89); Bon Louis Baron in the boys’ 14-year 50m butterfly (38.28) and 100m IM (1:31.44); Joanna Amor Cervas in the girls’ 10-year 50m butterfly (39.51) and 100m IM (1:30.00); and Zyrilyn Anonuevo in the girls’ 12-year 50m butterfly (35.33) and 100m IM (1:19.59).

    The other double-gold medalists were Gian Nicole Nunez (girls’ 13-year 50m butterfly, 36.90, and 100m IM, 1:20.00), Hannah Imelda Santorio (girls’ 14-year 50m butterfly, 35.10, and 100m IM, 1:21.88), Rachel Abareta (girls’ 15-over 50m butterfly, 44.60, and 100m IM, 1:30.23) and Laurence Nunez (boys’ 10-year 50m butterfly, 59.76, and 100m IM, 1:53.17).

    The other opening day winners were Carl Jude Tence in boys’ 12-year 50m butterfly (31.94), Benjo Miguel Consorte in boys’ 13-year 50m butterfly (40.57), Joshua Ezekiel Jordan in boys’ 6-under 25m butterfly (1:01.45), Arran Arnaldo in boys’ 8-year 25m butterfly (24.47), Michael Otamias 2nd in boys’ 9-year 25m butterfly (26.57), Bryan Louis Baron in boys’ 13-year 100m IM (1:23.16) and Alea Faye Tence in girls’ 8-year 25m butterfly (19.40).

    “We would like to thank Commodore Dante Jimenez of Mariners Polytechnic Colleges Foundation for helping us stage this competition as well as Dr. Sofia Gimenez of TCS facial care center, Bicol Memorial Park Inc., and Allan Rañola,” added Papa.

    PSL is a national sports swimming association for Universities and Colleges accredited by the Federation of School Sports Association of the Philippines (Fessap), internationally affiliated member of Federation of International Sports University (FISU).
